Mini Photo Album

The Penny Black Saturday Challenge for November is Anything But a Card.  I chose to make a mini photo book using a Penny Black die called silhouette lady.  I first created the book covers by covering cardboard rectangles with some silk tie fabric.  I added pages to the inside an attached the pages with gold cording through holes I punched on the pages.  I added some beads and extra cording as decoration.  I added a gold flower and some leaf sprigs as hair decoration.

My "Anything But a Card" book will make a little stocking stuffer........Paulette

Remember to Give Thanks

The theme for Dies R Us Challenge #60 is Thankful for Nature.  It's always nice to have a stash of Thank You cards on hand.  I used some paper from DCWV's The Guilded Orchard.  I used a Gina Marie Designs die to cut the leaf.  I cut it from some red DP and also from the light colored DP.  I embedded the red leaf in the negative space created by the leaf that was cut from the light colored DP.  I mounted the light colored panel onto a gold foil card.  The "THANKS" was cut with a Memory Box die out of  a glittered gold foam sheet.  I added this to a red banner that I cut free-hand.  The flourishes behind the banner were cut from the gold foam sheet with dies from Marianne Creatables.  I fussy cut the tiny bird and added it to the leaf stem.  I highlighted the flowers and bird with a clear Wink of Stella pen and added gems to the flower centers.

Happy Birthday Kitty

The Penny Black Saturday Challenge Blog for October is to use Fall Colors.  This Penny Black kitty stamp is actually a Christmas stamp.  The wreath around her head is holly.  I adapted it to be flowers punched from a Martha Stewart hydrangea punch.  I added a lacy border I made with a Tonic Studios punch.  The leaves were made with a Joy! Crafts die and the twigs with a Memory Box die.   I used gold Stickles for the flower centers.  My granddaughter has an October birthday and Fall colors seemed the way to go for this birthday card.

Happy Birthday, Chelsea!.................................Paulette

Help Me Celebrate!

On Wednesday, October 5th, I posted the news that I was published in the Autumn 2016 issue of The Stampers' Sampler.

My cards were published in one of my favorite features: Tempting Templates.  A new template is presented each month to challenge readers.  The template for this issue was a ladybug.  It is always so interesting to see all the submissions and unique designs created using the template.

To share in my celebration Stampington is giving me a free copy of this issue of The Stampers' Sampler to share with one lucky reader of my blog and/or Facebook page.  My apology to my friends outside of the USA---The issue can only be shipped within the USA.

On Nov. 1st I will randomly choose the winner from a reader who posts a comment here on my blog or over on my Facebook page.

Happy News! I've Been Published in The Stampers Sampler

I just received the news that four of my card designs were chosen to be published in the Autumn 2016 issue of The Stampers Sampler.  I haven't received my issue yet but I'm anxious to share my exciting news.

The designs are all based on a "Tempting Template Challenge."  The template was a ladybug.  I used the actual template to create the Halloween card.  As luck would have it, I own a ladybug stamp and used it in the design of the other three cards.

I won a craft kit from DCWV designed by Lia Griffith called "Cupcake Spiders."  The kit includes die cut black spiders and white webs to decorate cupcakes.  The webs are wrappers and the spiders go on top of the frosting.  I added some rhinestone eyes to the spiders and added them as embellishments to my card.  The papers I used are all designs from DCWV's "Spooky Time" Stack.

DCWV Stack-a-holic Sketch Challenge for August 2016

I used DCWV's Magnolia Way stack to design my card for this month's
DCWV Stack-a-holic Challenge.  I used both the sketch and added the "sparkle" too for the twist.

I love the sheen and glitter on the flower papers.  The butterfly and the blossoms beneath the butterfly were fussy cut from papers that are also from the Magnolia Way stack.

Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer Kitty

The weather here in Madtown is sporting heat index values in the 100's.  Time to think of cooler temps.  There's a "Christmas in July" challenge over on the Hiding in My Craft Room blog HIMCR#260.

Meet Rudolph!  He's a stamp I acquired back in the 90"s.  I think he's from All Night Media.  I added a bit of glitter to the snow and a dark pink rhinestone nose.  I think the sentiment is also from the same era and also All Night Media.  I punched out the snowflake, added a bit of glitter and a rhinestone center.

I've entered this in the "Christmas in July" Hiding in My Craft Room challenge HIMCR#260.

Thinking of You...DCWV Stack-a-holic Challenge for June 2016

I used papers from DCWV's Garden Charm stack to create this Thinking of You card for the June Stack-a-holic Challenge.  I used a Memory Box die to cut out the tiny butterflies from 4 different papers from the Garden Charm stack.  I added some ruby Stickles to the fussy-cut flowers on the left and added yellow rhinestone centers.  Using other papers from the stack, I cut out the sentiment and matted it with the dotted red paper.  I trimmed the edges of the sentiment panel with lace and mounted the panel on the card with pop-dots.  Some rhinestone flourishes complete the design.

This is the sketch that the challenge is based on:

Black and White Challenge

Dies R Us Challenge #47 is Black & White.  This black butterfly was hiding out under my craft table today.  I used a die by Marianne Creatables to cut it out.  As usual any opportunity to divert my attention from cleaning up my craft area is a welcome diversion.  I remembered this B&W cardstock from DCWV and found some black rhinestone flourishes I had recently purchased at a stamp show.  In less than 5 minutes this easy-peasy card was done.  I'm out of the mood now for clean-up chores but I love my card!

Have a great day............................................Paulette

Inspired by Temperley of London

The Saturday Inspiration Challenge on Splitcoaststampers is to be inspired by the Temperley of London online catalog.  My inspiration is this scarf:  http://www.temperleylondon.com/shop/lettie-embroidered-dinner-scarf-black-ivory.html

The roses are cut with a Tattered Lace die.  The die I used for the border is one I got from a used stamp sale and I don't know the manufacturer.  The stamp is from PSX.  I added some half pearls to the flowers.

I am entering this card in Dies R Us Challenge #47 Black & White.

Let's Eat!

The April DCWV Stack-a-holic Challenge uses this sketch:

The cardstock I used for this card is from Nana's Kitchen stack and the Textured Jewels mat stack.  I used a Die-namites die to cut out the apron.  I distressed the edges of the apron with Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink by Ranger.  I added spoon and fork brads as embellishments.

This card could be used as an invitation or by adding a birthday cake to the inside, it could be used as a birthday card.

Love---Irish Style

The Rubber Dance Art Stamp challenge for March uses these colors and a St. Patrick's Day theme.

I continue to use my favorite couple stamp from Rubber Dance.  I used an embossing folder from Teresa Collins to dry emboss the white layer.  After stamping on white cardstock, I tore the edges and then added some Viva Gold in yellow green to the edges of the torn layer.  I layered this onto orange cardstock and tore the edges of this layer too.  The green shamrock doily completes the layers beneath the stamped image.  I added some tiny orange flowers punched with a Martha Stewart hydrangea punch and shaped with a stylus.  Green Stickles were added as centers.  The leaf is a partial die-cut cut from a Cottage Cutz die.  On the right is a strip of green glitter tape and layered flowers from Michael's dollar bin.  A green gem is used as a flower center.

Wishing you a Happy St. Pat's Day..................Paulette

Forever in My Heart

The challenge this month at Rubber Dance Art Stamps uses this group of colors and a "Romance" theme.

I used Rubber Dance Art Stamps for the background.  I stamped on the tan cardstock with Ranger Distress Barn Red ink.  I also sponged the edges of this layer.  For the heart I used a die from Die-namites.  I cut the heart out of red glittered fun foam.  I traced the edge of the die onto white cardstock and fussy cut the white heart.  I added some heart shaped pearls to the center.  I added three rows of white lacy trim to the tan layer and then attached the heart.

Hope you had a great Valentine's Day.......................................Paulette
