Proud as a Peacock

On Saturdays over on Splitcoaststampers they have an Inspiration Challenge.  It's my favorite challenge of the week.  The hostess posts a link to a catalog, a Pinterest board or a blog.  We are to use the images on the site as inspiration to design a card.

This week's challenge was to use the images of candles posted on My Favorite Candles Pinterest Board with over 200 candles.

As soon as I saw this candle: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/387591111656316834/, I was inspired to make this peacock feather card.  Easy peasy!!!...just picked this scrap of DCWV Royal Garden paper off my craft room floor this evening.  I matted the feather panel on a gold foil matt and attached it to a pale turquoise card, added some bling (inspired by the candle) and that was it.  It's getting a lot of comments from the gals over on Splitcoaststampers.

A Butterfly is a Flying Flower

I used the DCWV Mariposa Mat Stack to make this card for the DCWV January 2015 Stack-a-holic Sketch challenge.
On the left is the sketch for this month's card.  The tag is popped up on foam tape.  The orange layer was outlined with a Krylon gold leafing pen and the upper left corner was rounded with a Fiskars corner punch.  Mariposa is one of my most favorite paper stacks by DCWV.  I added a bit of clear Stickles to add some shimmer to the large butterfly.

Have a great day..........................Paulette

I Wanna Go Back to My Little Grass Shack

It's this time of year when I ask myself what I'm doing here in the Frozen Tundra with wind chills in the minus 20s.  After 23 years living in the tropical paradise of Hawaii, I moved back to the Midwest with its snowy, frigid winters.  Thoughts of the tropical islands inspired my card for this month's challenge over on the Unruly Papers Blog.

The theme is Global Traveller and is inspired by this photo and color palette:

The pattern papers are from Graphic 45 and the solid color papers are from DCWV.  The fern die is from Dreamweaver.  The embossing folder is by Darice.
