Sunset Silhouette

My weekly Stamp N Plus design is being posted a day early this week since it is being featured on the Chalk-AH-Lot Cafe blog today.  I used powdered chalks from Chalk-AH-Lot.  The colors I used are:
Mossy Green, Crimson, Candy Apple, Perky and Sparky.  You can find the chalks HERE.

The die used for the tree and birds is from Sizzix, the paper is from DCWV, the birds have rhinestone eyes and black half pearls complete the design.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week.  Paulette

Victorian Style Button Fairies

I'm in a Button Fairy swap on Splitcoaststampers and I found some Victorian, little girl gift tags that I've been hoarding for 20 years.  They just begged to have a new life.  The button fairies are easy to make and very addictive.  The antique buttons were strung on wire and then the paper heads were glued on.  Ribbons and flowers along with Stickles were added to the hats as embellies.  Some charms and beads were also used along with the buttons.  The wings were cut with a butterfly die from Marianne Creatables.

Have a great day & thanks for stopping by...Paulette

Honey Blossom Morning

Another card using a background of Chalk-Ah-Lot powdered chalks which can be found HERE.  The colors I used were:  Blush, Nifty and Peach.

The circle was cut with a Nellie Snellen die and the flowers were cut from a Memory Box die.  The patterned papers are from DCWV.  Rhinestones were added as embellishments.

The Chalk-Ah-Lot Cafe is having a challenge.  You can check it out HERE.

Thinking of You

For my Thinking of You card I used a stamp and powdered chalks sold by Stamp N Plus.  The sentiment can be found HERE X2090.  The powdered chalks are Chalk-Ah-Lots, which can be found HERE.  The colors I used were:  Blush, Nifty and Peach.

The oval was cut and embossed with a Spellbinders die and the butterfly was cut with a die by Marianne's Creatables.  Rhinestone jewels were used as embellishments along with a touch of Stickles on the edges of the wings.

I used a Staples brand of matte photo paper and applied the chalks with a sponge.  This paper has a felt-like texture and this quality combined with its bright white color provided a perfect media to bring out the vibrancy of these beautiful chalks.  Staples often has the paper for free when you submit a rebate form.  You can find the paper HERE.  The paper is cardstock weight and I have been using it as my "go to" white paper for stamping and cardmaking.

Thanks for visiting my blog and have a great week.  Paulette

The Farmer in the Dell

I know the farmers are anxious to get busy in the fields---unfortunately the cold & rainy weather has put them behind schedule.  Here's a card depicting a bright sunny day on the farm.  The stamp is from Stamp N Plus and is available here.  I added a punched sun that sparkled up with some Stickles.

Looks like another week of cold & rain here---bring on the sunshine.  Paulette Akagi

Island Girl

Here's the Front & Back of the card I made for the 3"x3" Pick a Theme with a Twist swap. Theme is Elton John Songs. Images are from the internet. Tropical leaves were cut from Joy! Craft dies.

Another chilly, rainy day here in Madtown with the weather guy threatening snow.  Just had to post something Bright and warm and tropical today.  Paulette

Button Fairies

I made these button fairies for a Button Fairy swap here on Splitcoaststampers.  The heads are Dolly Dingle's from the internet.  I used both new & vintage buttons and beads from my stash.  Easy to make and fun way to use up all those buttons I've collected over the years.

Pretty in Pink

Prom Week on Dancing with the Stars and passing through the formal department during my trip to the Boston Store yesterday prompted me to use this iris fold stamp (F-IR059) from Stamp N Plus to create a prom dress.  I used an organdy ribbon for the bodice and a wired ribbon for the skirt.  I also used some pink and silver cording to criss-cross at the waist.  The designer paper is from DCWV Sweets stack.  The scalloped frame was cut with a Nellie Snellen die.  Punched flowers and a bow complete my design.

Inchie Box

I altered this wooden jewelry box as a hostess gift for a 100 inchie swap. I painted the box with metallic paint, added buttons, charms, pearls and inchies to the top.For the side,
I mounted the scrabble tiles on 1" squares of gold cardstock. Added a famcy gold button and a strip of Dresden gold trim.

Foulard Using Hand Sanitizer & Alcohol Inks

I found this technique here: http://inkstainswithroni.blogspot.co...tizer-ais.html The gel in the Purell makes it possible to overlay the colors and makes for an interesting dimensional effect. This stamp is called "Foulard." Which means a silk-like fabric of various colors with various small designs. I thought this stamp and technique were perfect for producing a silk scarf effect.

The size of these pieces are 1 1/8" x 2 3/4" and are called moos.  I made these for a moo swap on Splitcoaststampers.  The theme of the swap is to make moos represent different techniques and embellishments to serve as art prompts for future projects.

April Showers

It's April 1st!  My theme today is April showers bring May flowers.  It's been a long, snowy winter and Spring is overdue.  This iris fold stamp by Stamp N Plus can be found HERE.  The folding was done with some green foil gift wrap.  The image was stamped twice and the flowers were colored with Prismacolor pencils.  Some of the flowers were cut out from the second stamped image, fussy cut and popped up on pop-dots and added to the original stamping.  A few stickles and rhinestone centers complete the design.
This stamp makes a great card for wedding and baby showers.  It can also be used for Spring birthdays and  get well wishes.
