Kwanza Inspired Four Sisters

Last Monday I used this stamp designed by Dexter Griffin entitled "The Four Sisters" to create a black and white card.  This Monday I used this same stamp available at Stamp N Plus to create a chunky page using a USPS postage stamp as inspiration.  This being the last Monday in February, I wanted to do one more tribute to Black History Month.

A chunky page measures 4" x 4" and I usually swap these with other rubber stamp and paper craft artists.  Chunky pages can have lots of embellishments and things dangling or protruding from the edges with the exception of the left side which is left embellishment free so that the page can be bound into a book if desired.

The image was stamped on 6 different colors of cardstock using the colors on the postage stamp as a guide---white, red, blue, green, yellow and light orange.  Each of the colors were fussy cut and pasted onto the the stamped, white cardstock and then the white cardstock was glued to a black cardstock base.  The postage stamp was matted using various leftover pieces of the colored cardstock.  The postage stamp piece was then attached to the page with a large red brad.  A silver button with an African mask motif was glued next to the brad.  Some fiber trim with beads was then glued across the bottom of the page.

  1. This is so cool. I looked at this stamp and it didn't grab me until I saw this. The colours are fabulous and the fibres are gorgeous. Love that you have attached the inspiration stamp to the chunky page. A very funky and artsy piece!

  2. Paulette, this is gorgeous! The techniques you use are so fun. I never thought of stamping on different colors of cardstock and putting them together. - LabradorDork (Danielle)
