The Frog Days of Summer

I submitted this card for publication a year ago but sadly it was returned unpublished.  This gives me the opportunity to spotlight Kermit on the blog.  The tree frog is a stamp from Stamp N Plus and can be ordered HERE
I stamped on some glittery green paper and some brown wood-textured paper and paper-pieced them.  Other products/supplies used are a Cuttlebug embossing folder, DCWV designer paper, Spellbinders Oval Nestabilities dies, a Martha Stewart twig punch, paper flowers, rhinestone gems, a dragonfly brad, and googlie eyes.

As August approaches, hope you are enjoying the Frog Days of Summer.   Paulette Akagi

Christmas in July Chalk-Ah-lot Cafe Challenge

It's a Christmas in July Challenge over on the Chalk-Ah-Lot Cafe blog.  I chose this stamp from Stamp N Plus' Patti's Kids line.  You can find the stamp here.  I stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with gold embossing powder.  The image was colored with Chalk-Ah-Lot powdered chalks.  The colors I used were:  Teddy Bear, Red, Gem, Sky, Blush and Blitzy.  The pine bows were punched with a Martha Stewart punch.  The flourishes were made with an EK Success border punch.  Several red rhinestone gems were added as embellishments.

Wishing you a Very Merry un-Christmas.-----Paulette

Prima Doll Altered Candy Tin

I love the new Prima Doll stamps and the hostess of the Prima Doll Swap here on SCS is sponsoring a challenge to post a project that is not a doll, tag or card using these stamps. Most of the projects I have seen posted online have included lots of flowers as embellies. This prompted me to alter this beautiful Russell Stover candy tin I purchased some time ago at a garage sale.

I stamped first on some flesh colored DP, then stamped the dress and headband on pink DP from DCWV's Street Lace pack. I fussy cut the doll and dress and headband, colored in the folds on the dress with a dark pink Prismacolor pencil and added lace trim and half pearls as embellies. The shoes and hair were colored with Prismacolors. A crocheted flower and pearl were added to the headband. The background provided by the candy tin was a bit busy so I chose to layer the doll on a mint green and black DP from the DCWV Mariposa pack. I forgot to mention: I ran the dress through a Cuttlebug cherry blossom embossing folder to give it some texture after I cut it out.

Have a great day---------- Paulette

Need a Perk Me Up?

There's a challenge on eclectic Paperie to use papers from the kitchen to create a collage.  I used a pretty tea time paper napkin that I bought at an Asian dollar store in HI.  I bonded it to heavy cardstock by making a sandwich with Glad Wrap and ironing to melt the Glad Wrap and bond the napkin to the cardstock (called Felted Cardstock technique).  The Inkinkado stamp was a recent gift from my BFF, Debbie Moon.  I colored it with Prismacolor pencils and added some glitter to the steam coming from the cup. The napkin print had some pretty metallic gold accents; so to echo this effect I edged the layers with a gold Krylon pen.  I fussy cut one of the cup & saucers, created an outlined edge with red cardstock  and popped the cup up on dimensionals.  Other kitchen references include a piece of netting from an up-cycled onion bag and some baker's twine.  The napkin layer was added to a layer of red glitter paper from DCWV.

I'm entering this in the following challenges:

The Tree Swing

Do you have childhood memories of a tree swing?  This silhouette stamp provides us with a trip down memory lane to the simple joys of childhood.

I love this new stamp from Stamp N Plus.  It is not on the website yet but can be ordered by calling LuAnn at 715-271-1873.  I used Spellbinders dies for the plain and scalloped circles.  I added some punched leaves and some paper flowers.  The background is a bronze-gold glittery cardstock from DCWV.  Hope you are having a Swingin' Summer.....Paulette

Nautical Dream

The Chalk-AH-lot challenge currently running is "Nautical."  I have been recycling some of the index photos on old Hawaiian calendars to make cards for the Hula Assn.  of the Midwest as a fundraiser.  The background was embossed with an eBossabilities sea shell folder from Spellbinders.  I rubbed Versamark over the raised impressions and added Chalk-AH-Lot Staudust chalk.  The "Dream" was stamped with Versamark and embossed with gold embossing powder.  I added some seashells I cut from a K & Co.  scrapbook border and a row of sequined ribbon.  The "Dream" stamp is part of a Stamp N Plus set of words.  To order call LuAnn at 715-271-1873.

Have a great day------Paulette

Daisy Dots

The challenge over on Splitcoaststampers today is to use dots.  Background is a DCWV card.  I used a Memory Box die for the white panel.  The green sprigs were cut with a Marianne Creatables die.  The flower is a dimensional sticker from K & Co.

Have a nice day----------------Paulette
