Die-namites April Sketch and Color Dare Challenge

I make a lot of Hawaiian themed cards for my daughter to sell as fundraisers for her hula halau.  I love this beautiful hibiscus die from Die-namites that you can find HERE.  I cut the hibiscus three times out of orange, dark green and light green cardstock.  I backed the cutouts in the flower with hot pink cardstock.  I fussy cut the orange flowers and layered them on top of the dark green diecut.  I inset the light green pieces in the dark green diecut.  The background paper is from the DCWV Mariposa stack.  The white diecut layer was from an unknown die.  I added orange Stickles to the flower stamens.

Wishing you a day of Aloha.........................Paulette

At the Beach

I recently won these stamps from Rubber Dance Art Stamps Co. from Norway in Unruly PaperArts Reader Art Quest. Main image was stamped with Faded Jeans ink and the edges were torn. The shells and starfish were stamped and then were fussy cut and embellished with a Wink of Stella pen to add a touch of sparkle. I added a few cream colored half pearls.  The blue paper is from DCWV's Nantucket stack and the red paper is from Graphic 45.  I used a sketch on Splitcoaststampers as my inspiration.

Entered in the challenge on the Rubber Dance April Color Challenge.
Have a great day.........................Paulette

April Showers

I used DCWV's Sky's the Limit stack to design this card using this month's Stack-a-holic Sketch Challenge.

I used Spellbinders dies to cut out the circles. I added Crystal effects to the umbrella and handle.  The DCWV has glittered raindrops that added texture and fun.  I added a rhinestone droplet and 2 rhinestone flowers.

Looking forward to Springtime showers and May flowers.  Paulette

An Udder Year

The April Reader Art Quest over on the Unruly PaperArts blog this week uses "Animal Instincts" as a prompt and the beautiful colors of these gorgeous birds in the photo below:

My card uses two Penny Black stamps.  I stamped with black Stazon ink and colored with my Prismacolor pencils.  I gave the balloons some dimension by adding some Crystal Effects.  I embellished the sentiment with blue Stickles.  I added the Prima flowers, some half pearl centers and punched leaves.

Take Ten Giveaway Contest

In my blog post on Feb. 17, 2015 I posted that I had four cards published in the Spring 2015 issue of Stampington's Take Ten magazine.   Stampington is allowing me to host a Take Ten giveaway on my blog.  Three of the cards I submitted and that were published in this issue demonstrated both "Variation On a Theme" and were designed in response to one of Take Ten's Design Challenges.  These are two features in the magazine I find very interesting.

On my page you can see my theme was golf.  The Design Challenge was to use stripes---a long horizontal one above the focal point and a shorter one directly under the focal image.

Sharon Bridges designed cards featured in the "Different Point of View" section of the magazine.  She uses the same stamp in 3 different ways.  This is another one of my favorite features in the magazine.  You can see Sharon's cards below:

I love doing challenges and I have been having fun participating in the daily challenges on Splitcoaststampers as well as submitting cards for publication.  It's so validating to receive comments from fellow stampers and reaffirming when a card gets published.

And now to get to that GIVEAWAY:
Take Ten magazine is all about making a card in 10 minutes or less.  Comment below with an answer to the question:  Do you find it easy or challenging to complete a card within a time limit of 10 minutes?  If you have difficulty posting a comment here, you can post your comment on my Facebook page.  I will choose a winner on Tax Day, April 15th.  Winner will be chosen by random drawing.

Thanks for stopping by, I look forward to your comments and good luck in the drawing.
